Code of Conduct
 
When you participate to our field schools, you represent our team. You should therefore adhere to our code of conduct. We expect that everyone be treated with respect and kindness, and that participants contribute to a welcoming learning environment for all. Nikopoli is a very important archaeological site and candidate for the UNESCO list of Cultural Heritage. All participants are expected to behave in a professional manner in line with scientific protocols. Misconduct, dishonesty, and any action that compromises the work of the field schools is subject to disciplinary action.
 
All participants will receive an extended version of this code to sign before attending our field school. In summary:
 
  • No alcohol consumption is permitted for the duration of the field school.
  • Drug use is not tolerated. Recreational drug use is illegal in Greece.  
  • No obscene behaviour at the hotel at any time.
  • The programme is mandatory.
  • Wear appropriate clothing and footwear at the excavation.
 
Excavate in Greece has IP rights of the curriculum. Instructors have IP rights of their seminar contents.  It is not permissible to publish on the internet photos from the excavation.
 
Greece has a very strict archaeological law. It is not permitted to take ANYTHING from the site. If any participant breaks the law, they will be asked to leave immediately and will face the relevant criminal charges for looting antiquities.
 
Harassment Policy
EXCAVATE IN GREECE IMPLEMENTS A ZERO TOLERANCE POLICY TOWARDS ANY FORM OF DISCRIMINATION, RETALIATION, OR HARASSMENT (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO VISUAL, VERBAL, PHYSICAL) ON THE GROUNDS OF RACE, RELIGION OR BELIEF, GENDER AND GENDER CHARACTERISTICS, SEXUAL ORIENTATION, DISABILITY, AGE, PHYSICAL APPEARANCE OR PREGNANCY WITHIN THE TEAM OR EXTERNALLY.
